“How do you grow self esteem if you literally hate everything about yourself?
Books say to focus on the positives/talents but what if you can't find any?
How do you teach children to value themselves if you can't?
How do you break the cycle?”
When my clients have asked these questions, I suggest (and work with them) to:
Start with nature. Nature is not perfect but always beautiful.
Feel into gratitude for the sun rising in the morning, the green of the trees, beauty of birds or other animals, dew drops on the grass right outside your door…
Gratitude for…
The abundance of water as you shower, the wind on your face, your morning cup of tea/coffee, food, clean clothes…
Your eyes that see
Ears that hear,
Arms and legs that work,
Heart beating keeping you alive.
Your breath
These are just a few things to be grateful for.
If you tried to list 10 things every morning and 10 things every night you’d do it easily!
Do this daily and more things to be grateful for will come to you.
Nobody ever has no good at all, and nobody ever has no talent at all.
Your ability to speak, write, sing, dance, heal, love, share…
Start to look for the good (seek and you shall find) look for the bad and you’ll always find faults.
I promise You can do this. For yourself and your child.
